The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) announced on Tuesday that army units arrested 67 Syrians over the past week for illegally crossing into Lebanese territory.
In a statement, the Army Command said the arrests were made during security operations in the Beqaa region along the Lebanese-Syrian border. The measures, which include regular patrols and checkpoints, are part of ongoing efforts to tighten border control and maintain internal stability.
LAF also stressed that it remains in direct coordination with Syrian authorities and is implementing “necessary security measures” to address the situation.
Additionally, the statement urged media outlets to report “responsibly” on border developments, cautioning against the spread of misinformation that could fuel internal tensions. “We call on all media to rely on official Army statements for accurate information,” it said.
The detainees have been referred to the competent judicial authorities for further action.
