A security official disclosed that Lebanese security agencies have been actively tracking and arresting terrorism suspects, dormant cells and fundamentalist elements allegedly working to destabilize the country in line with foreign agendas aimed at undermining the regional peace process.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to provide the identities or the number of individuals detained. However, he emphasized that the security situation remains under control and that there is no immediate cause for public concern.
He added that additional efforts are underway to bolster internal stability, coinciding with international pressure on Israel to uphold the ceasefire agreement and proceed with its withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources revealed that the United States is preparing to impose new sanctions targeting individuals and institutions affiliated with Hezbollah. The move is expected to align with the third round of US-Iranian nuclear negotiations, scheduled to take place in Oman.
