The Judicial Police Bureau for International Theft Crimes arrested members of a gang involved in the theft of cars, mainly of Hyundai and Kia models, in Mount Lebanon. The arrest came after such operations were monitored and tracked in various Lebanese regions.

According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Division of the Internal Security Forces, the bureau arrested A.K. (born in 2003, of Jordanian nationality), M.M. (born in 2001, of Syrian nationality), M.B. (born in 2004, of Syrian nationality) and A.K. (born in 1999, of Palestinian nationality) on May 5, 2023, in the two localities of Amchit and Safra, through two qualitative operations.

The first individual was found to possess a war pistol along with other tools used for theft, while the three others were found with pistols, cannabis and sedative pills, the press document added.

Another gang member, M.B. (2004, of Syrian nationality) was lured from Syria into Lebanese territories on May 10, 2023 and was subsequently arrested in the Wadi Khaled area.

During the interrogation, the statement mentioned that the gang confessed to stealing 150 vehicles of Kia and Hyundai models from various areas in the Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut and selling them to individuals involved in car theft and smuggling.

Among the stolen vehicles was one belonging to a TV station, which they set on fire in the Khaldeh area.

Legal procedures have been taken against them under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members.
