According to Reuters, Qatari mediators attempted negotiations on Wednesday to broker a deal between Hamas and Israel. The proposed agreement involves the release of approximately 50 civilian hostages from Gaza in exchange for a three-day ceasefire. This negotiation, coordinated with the U.S., also aims for the release of Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails. Additionally, the deal would involve an increase in humanitarian aid allowed into Gaza.

An Israeli official expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the current terms discussed in the deal do not align with Israeli expectations, Al Arabiya reported, citing the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation. The official asserted that the mediators are aware of Israel’s insistence on a more substantial agreement involving more prisoners.

Additionally, Al Arabiya informed that the agreement’s initial phase involves exchanging Israeli children for Palestinian children. Israel is pushing for the release of about 100 women and children, while Hamas has agreed to the terms, Israel is still in negotiations and has not yet given its approval.
