For the first time since the start of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel on the southern border, an Israeli airstrike hit on Sunday early afternoon the western Bekaa region, targeting a car on the main road of the town of Al-Suwairi.

According to information obtained by This is Beirut, the car that was targeted was a blue Skoda Rapid containing food. Its driver is a young Syrian resident of al-Suwairi, Mohamad Besbes, who owns a supermarket and also works for a member of the al-Sumaili family. Besbes was fatally injured and reported dead.

Rumors are circulating that the car was mistakenly targeted and that the raid was intended to target another car nearby.
