The escalation in the South intensified on Thursday after Israel killed a Hezbollah senior field commander the day before.

Hadi Chreim, a member of Hezbollah, was killed on Thursday in an Israeli strike targeting a home in Houla.

At the same time, Hezbollah announced having launched 20 drones and 200 missiles against Israel in the largest attack mounted against the Hebrew state since the war started on October 7. The attack comes following the assassination of Mohammad Nehmeh Ali Nasser.

Moreover, Israeli aircraft broke the sound barrier twice with great force over Sidon, and again over Beirut and Metn.

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on Aita al-Shaab, Aitaroun, and Ramya while the artillery targeted the town of Khiam. An Israeli drone launched three missiles at the Al-Maqab neighborhood above the stadium in Hula. Israeli artillery also targeted the outskirts of the towns of Odaisseh and Naqoura.

The Israeli army announced targeting Hezbollah positions in Chihine and Shebaa in southern Lebanon. Israeli media reported that the army bombed large areas of southern Lebanon and intercepted dozens of rockets and drones.

The Israeli army also launched flares over border villages adjacent to the Blue Line and targeted the outskirts of the towns of Alma al-Shaab and Marwahin with several direct shells on Wednesday night.

Additionally, the Parliamentary Committee of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants arrived at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura. As they were meeting with UNIFIL General Commander, Aroldo Lázaro, sirens sounded at the headquarters following explosions heard near the border in Naqoura.

On its part, Hezbollah retaliated targeting a position of Israeli soldiers in the Kfar Blum outpost using Katyusha rockets.
