The head of the Lebanese Forces (LF), Samir Geagea, addressed a message to Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri on his “X” account, saying his party was “ready to attend any presidential election session called for in consecutive rounds until a new president of the republic is elected.

However, this participation comes with one condition: “to preserve the right of each parliamentary bloc and each member of parliament to vote for whom they consider suitable.”

Geagea is alluding to the fact that Hezbollah has been stubbornly exerting pressure for the election of the head of the Marada party, Sleiman Frangieh, as president of the republic.

He also emphasized that preserving the right of each MP to a fair vote “should have happened two months before the end of President Michel Aoun’s term.”

The head of the LF has recently declared that his party was no longer insisting on a specific candidate.
