Hezbollah has called on its elite fighters who took part in the war in Syria to beef up their presence on Lebanon’s southern front.

The pro-Iranian formation has deployed elite fighters in the border zone to benefit from their experience gained while defending Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

According to political sources close to Hezbollah, the militia has thus far lost more than 60 of its elite fighters. In response, plans are underway to shoot down the Israeli surveillance drones after successfully neutralizing Israeli surveillance and spy towers along the border.

The formation announced in a statement released on Sunday that it had shot down an Israeli drone near Khiam.
