Democratic Gathering Bloc MP Marwan Hamadeh stated in an interview with Voice of Lebanon that “Hezbollah believing to have control has no actual impact at the parliamentary level.”

“There is a prevailing perception that Hezbollah holds absolute power, but this is no longer the case, neither regionally nor locally,” Hamadeh added.

Asked about the presidential elections, Hamade stated, “We are at a crossroads.”

“Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri might opt for a middle-ground option to solve the election, but this depends on Hezbollah’s willingess to cooperate,” he went on to say.

“We have a chance in the next few days to elect a president who resembles Lebanon,” he concluded, “and the Qatari envoy is trying to set the stage for the election of a president.”
