Caretaker Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin issued on Monday a circular defining new criteria for operating generators in neighborhoods, with the aim of “limiting the pollutants” that result from their activity.
According to the circular, “smoke from generator emissions must be dealt with immediately by equipping them with effective systems capable of blocking small particles.” A minimum height for the installation of exhaust pipes is also required. According to the circular, generator owners are required to install specific filters to block the small particles that result from diesel incineration.
