The Lebanese army paid tribute on Friday to the officers who died in the crash of a military helicopter in Hammana last Wednesday.

The funerals of Lieutenant Richard Saab and Captain Joseph Hanna began on Friday morning from Beirut military hospital, where a salute to arms was paid.

Lieutenant Richard Saab will be buried in Choueifat, and Captain Joseph Hanna in Debl, South Lebanon.

In addition, the Army Commander in Chief, General Joseph Aoun, visited the Hôtel-Dieu hospital on Friday morning to check on the health of Warrant Officer Ahmad Saidah, who was injured in the accident.

General Aoun congratulated the young officer on his courage and wished him a speedy recovery.

We recall that an army helicopter crashed on Wednesday evening in the Hammana region during training. Fog and poor visibility are believed to have been the main causes of the crash, but the army has yet to announce the official cause.
