Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi met on Wednesday with the family of Elias Hasrouni, a member of the Lebanese Forces (LF) who died in Ain Ebel, in south Lebanon, in early August under ambiguous circumstances that have not yet been clarified.

Following the meeting, the family stated that Mawlawi possessed information that he is actively following up on.

“We are reassured that things are progressing as needed for justice to be established,” the family said.

Mawlawi declared a week ago that the information in his possession indicates the absence of any partisan affiliation in Elias Hasrouni’s suspected murder. His declaration was strongly denounced by the Lebanese Forces, including the party’s president, Samir Geagea, who described Hasrouni’s death as a “premeditated murder.”
