Caretaker Minister of Energy Walid Fayad announced, late on Saturday evening, that a solution had been found to the total blackout that Lebanon has been experiencing since Saturday afternoon.

According to Fayad, Egypt is expected to send diesel fuel, which will arrive by August 23 and enable the power stations to start operating again.

In an interview with the al-Arabiya television channel, he added that generators would temporarily power Beirut airport for a few days.

Électricité du Liban (EDL) announced on Saturday that its power stations would stop producing electricity because the stock of diesel had been completely exhausted, despite the preventive measures taken since July 27 and the various warnings issued by the public electricity supplier.
