An explosive-laden drone struck a vehicle near the northern Israeli town of Misgav Am on Friday, lightly injuring two people, according to Israeli emergency services.

Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service said crews were dispatched to extinguish a blaze caused by what it described as “an explosive drone impact.”

The incident comes hours after the Israel Defense Forces announced a reinforcement of civilian protection measures in northern areas following a new assessment by the Home Front Command.

Under the updated directives, effective from May 1 to May 4, communities along the confrontation line — including Meron, Bar Yohai, Or HaGanuz and Safsufa — have been placed under a “partial activity” level, tightening restrictions amid ongoing security concerns.

Under these measures, educational activities and workplaces are permitted only in buildings that provide access to standard protected shelters, while public gatherings are restricted in size, reflecting heightened concern over potential escalation.

The attack near Misgav Am highlights the fragile security environment along Israel’s northern frontier, where cross-border threats persist even as authorities move to reinforce civilian safety measures.
