The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) announced on Tuesday the arrival of a new shipment of military equipment donated by France, underscoring continued international backing for Lebanon’s army amid ongoing economic hardship and security threats.
In an official statement, the LAF confirmed that a French military aircraft landed at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport on April 13, carrying specialized engineering equipment for explosive ordnance disposal. The handover took place in the presence of Lebanese and French military officers.
"This shipment is a donation from the French authorities to the Lebanese Armed Forces," the statement read, emphasizing France’s sustained commitment to bolstering the army’s capabilities—particularly in the areas of mine clearance and the neutralization of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The delivery is part of a broader bilateral cooperation aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of Lebanon’s military forces as they contend with multiple security threats across the country.
In a separate development, the LAF also reported receiving its second fuel shipment of 2025 from Qatar on Monday.
