The Government Emergency Committee (GEC), led by Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin, has published a video report on the in-kind aid directly managed by the GEC and distributed through the governors' operation rooms and local emergency committees up until November 8.
The report highlighted the humanitarian toll, stating that "the Israeli aggression has led to the displacement of 1.2 million people, with over 200,000 — approximately 45,000 families — seeking refuge in shelters." It emphasized that the committee is working to address the overwhelming needs, particularly in shelter centers.
According to the report, in-kind aid has been received from "friendly countries, Lebanese expatriates, and international organizations" through Lebanon's airport and port. This aid includes "medicines and medical supplies managed by the Ministry of Health, along with food and shelter assistance," which is distributed by multiple entities, including the Ministry of Public Health and international organizations.
Regarding the distribution process, Yassin explained that "the emergency committee supervises the distribution of aid to the operation rooms of eight governorates based on the number of displaced individuals." He also noted that local emergency cells ensure delivery to shelters.
So far, the GEC has distributed 90% of 40,662 food boxes, 90% of 15,735 hygiene kits, 74% of 17,938 shelter kits, 54% of 2,774 tents, and 61% of 39,615 blankets and mattresses.
However, Yassin acknowledged that these efforts meet only "15 to 20 percent of the overall needs of the displaced population," underscoring the immense challenges ahead.
