The Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Boukhari, confirmed “the Kingdom's continued support for the military institution,” following a meeting on Wednesday with the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Army, General Joseph Aoun, in Yarzeh. Discussions focused on the general situation in the country amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

Mr. Boukhari was also received by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh, where talks focused on political developments and the issue of displaced persons.

This tour is part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to support Lebanon. On Tuesday, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati received an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz to attend the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh on November 11. The invitation was handed to him by Mr. Boukhari during the ambassador’s visit to the Grand Serail.

The extraordinary summit in Riyadh aims to “affirm Arab and Islamic solidarity”against the regional spread of military conflicts from Gaza to Lebanon and the “risks of the crisis spreading to other countries in the region,” according to the text.

In addition, the aim of the summit is to call for “an end to the Israeli aggression and to work for a just solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

In his letter, King Salman also emphasized the willingness of “the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of Arab and Islamic countries to take a firm stance against the heinous crimes committed by Israel.”
