Caretaker Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi affirmed that "patrols on the Beirut airport road will be intensified, in cooperation with the police station in the southern suburbs."
Following a meeting he chaired on Wednesday to discuss the security situation in the capital, Mawlawi stressed that "the security services are stepping up arrests and all crimes will be solved." "We held this meeting to develop a security strategy that will reassure citizens," he assured.
Regarding displaced Syrians, Mawlawi pointed out that his ministry issues circulars urging municipal councils to apply the laws in force. He added that the General Directorate of General Security had received data on the number of displaced Syrians, in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and municipalities.
