Metropolitan Elias Audi stressed that “only prayer with pure hearts can save our region from fire and human brutality,” estimating that “the leaders of the Earth only care about their interests and their positions.”

In his homily delivered on Sunday at the occasion of the feast of All Saints in the Byzantine rite, Bishop Audi called for prayer “for peace throughout the world, and particualrly in southern Lebanon and the Gaza strip,” so that God “spares his people from the specter of war and its scourge, and grant them love, joy, peace and stability.”

“As for the oppressed peoples, they have only God and the hope that men will wake up to their humanity and listen to the cries of their consciences,” he concluded.
