Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib stated that the government is consulting with Hezbollah. He indicated that “discussions are a must while no final decision has been taken yet.”

“The French have proposed good ideas that we are studying and we will respond to them next week,” he said in an interview with Al-Jazeera.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs revealed that international delegates conveyed Israel’s threats, but that his response was for the Hebrew state to withdraw from Lebanese lands.

Bou Habib noted that “any Israeli attack on Lebanese territories will lead to a regional war.” He stressed that “Lebanon wants peace on the borders, but it is prepared for war if it is imposed on the country.”

Bou Habib also said that “what matters to Israel is the return of the settlers to the areas they evacuated in the North.” He then concluded that “Lebanon wants a comprehensive solution with Israel regarding borders.”
