Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday afternoon, targeting suspected Hezbollah positions, according to the Israeli army.
The main strikes hit areas near the Litani River, between Deir Siryan and Zawtar al-Sharqiya, as well as Aishiyeh, Mahmoudiyeh and Jarmaq, northeast of Nabatieh. Residents across the south reported hearing powerful explosions as low-flying jets crisscrossed the skies.
Separately, an airstrike targeted Hamma Zlayya in the Western Beqaa region, marking a geographic expansion of the campaign.
The Israeli army said the strikes were based on intelligence and aimed at Hezbollah’s weapons depots, military sites and operational infrastructure, claiming the group’s activity violates previous understandings with Lebanon. It affirmed that operations would continue to eliminate any threat along the border.
At dawn, Israeli forces carried out a cross-border raid on the town of Kfar Kila, planting explosives in the home of Lebanese citizen Abbas Bdeir. The house was leveled in the explosion.
