Member of the Strong Lebanon bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan stated after a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai on Friday in Bkerke that the “state is required to make decisions about the ongoing war because the Lebanese people do not want war.”

Kanaan said that the purpose of his visit to the Patriarch is to highlight the fact that the Cabinet needs to bear its responsibilities, and not act with “folklore.”

He emphasized that “Bkerke welcomes all dialogue initiatives, but wasting time takes its toll on the country.”

Regarding the stamp crisis, Kanaan mentioned the call that’s being raised by the Mukhtars and the citizens about the black market, indicating that “it is the government’s responsibility to end injustice and provide stamps or suspend their use.”
