In a commendable effort to ensure the safety of citizens during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Internal Security Forces took proactive measures by conducting patrols along the coastal highway. The aim was to reduce driving speed and prevent accidents, resulting in a notable achievement as no fatalities were reported due to traffic accidents on this festive night.

The Lebanese Red Cross played a crucial role in responding to urgent relief calls during the annual New Year celebrations. A statement released by the LRC highlighted their preparedness, with ambulance and emergency response centers operating at full capacity across various Lebanese territories. Approximately 1000 male and female paramedics, supported by around 220 ambulance vehicles, were strategically positioned to address any emergencies.
From 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2023, to 7:00 AM on Monday, January 1, 2024, the Lebanese Red Cross responded to a total of 267 humanitarian cases. These cases were distributed as follows: 26 injuries from traffic accidents, 4 injuries from altercations, 3 cases of diabetes-related symptoms and vomiting, 13 cardiac cases, 8 cases of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, 183 various emergency missions, and 29 regular ambulance missions.
The number of traffic accidents reported to the Lebanese Red Cross amounted to 21, with the organization closely monitoring blood transfusion centers in Beirut (Spears) and Tripoli. The centers successfully met the demand for blood units, aligning with requests received from hospitals and the 1760 hotline.
Emphasizing their commitment, the Red Cross teams continued their humanitarian missions and urged citizens to contact the toll-free emergency number 140 as well as the hotline 1760 for assistance in providing blood units and any non-emergency aid. The focus remains on swift responses to calls of need, particularly in the southern border areas.
In parallel efforts to ensure security and stability during the holiday period, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun inspected various military units deployed in different areas. His visits included the leaderships of the 11th Infantry Brigade and the 1st and 3rd Intervention Regiments, where he reviewed the measures taken to maintain a secure environment. The collaborative efforts of the Internal Security Forces, the Lebanese Red Cross, and the military played a pivotal role in making the New Year’s Eve celebrations a safe and successful event.
