Artillery exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel continued on Sunday with varying intensity, marking the last day of the year in southern Lebanon.

In the afternoon, Israeli forces shelled several border villages, causing a new escalation. The Israeli army launched two shells on Jebbin and bombed the region of Mays al-Jabal, as well as Dhayra and Tayr Harfa. Three shells also landed in the village of Hula. Others targeted Bint Jbeil, without causing casualties. Artillery bombardment targeted Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Jabal Labbouneh and Yarin.

Israeli media reported the firing of two anti-tank missiles from southern Lebanon towards an Israeli military installation in the Upper Galilee.

Hezbollah, on the other hand, issued three statements claiming responsibility for shelling an Israeli army position in Hanita (opposite Aita al-Shaab) twice “with appropriate weapons.” It announced that it targeted the Israeli site of al-Abad, opposite Hula (Nabatiyeh district), as well as the site of Hadab al-Bustan with five missiles.

Artillery exchanges were reportedly renewed Sunday morning between Hezbollah and Israel. The Israeli army fired artillery shells from positions near the village of Aita al-Shaab, targeting the surroundings and groves of the town. Similarly, an Israeli drone carried out strikes near Alma al-Shaab and Marwahin, and Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over the region between Naqoura and Jabal Blat, Labbouneh and Jal al-Alam. Simultaneously, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) conducted intermittent patrols.

Hezbollah responded by targeting Israeli positions in Ramta, al-Samaka and the colony of Metula in the Upper Galilee. The pro-Iranian group announced on Sunday morning the death of one of its members, Ali Ahmed Saad from Bint Jbeil, during the night clashes.
