Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met on Monday with the President of the Maronite League, Ambassador Khalil Karam, at the Grand Serail.

Karam said that he delivered to the PM a paper prepared by the Maronite League’s committee on displacement and citizenship, along with the attached roadmap proposing practical solutions to this issue.

“This paper is objective, scientific, meticulously studied, supported by numbers and information, and enriched with legal summaries,” Karam said.

He added that discussions took place regarding the mechanism for cooperation and coordination between the government and the Maronite League concerning administrative appointments and public positions in the State.

“This cooperation is based on the requirements of national consensus, constitutional principles, and respect for competence in Lebanese administration,” he concluded.

Discussions also centered on the current situation in Lebanon in light of recent international and regional developments, as well as the ongoing war in Israel.
