Due to the “unpredictable situation in Israel,” the American embassy in Beirut called on Monday, October 9, on its citizens in the region to exercise caution. It also invited all US citizens in Lebanon who need assistance to contact the Embassy in Beirut.

In a security alert posted on its website, the Embassy stated, “The situation in Israel continues to be unpredictable and U.S. citizens throughout the region should take caution. Individuals should follow local government advice to increase their security awareness, avoid areas around demonstrations, and check local media for updates and traffic advisories.”

“U.S. citizens who wish to leave the region and can do so safely are advised to check the status of the border crossings or verify flights at nearby airports,” the statement further read.

Canada

For its part, the Canadian Embassy in Beirut said that “it is closely following the situation in Israel and Gaza and its possible repercussions on Lebanon.”

In a mail to its citizens in Beirut, it reminded them “to be very cautious due to the unpredictable situation on the security level, and to avoid going south of Litani River or close to the border with Israel, due to military activities.”

The embassy also encouraged Canadians to visit the website voyage.gc.ca for recent updates on travel advisories related to Lebanon.
