The First Deputy Governor of the Banque du Liban, Wassim Mansouri, announced that the State will not be able to return depositors’ funds before banks undergo restructuring. He stressed the need to rebuilt depositors’ trust by revitalizing the banking sector.

During a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Economic and Social Council on Thursday, September 28, Mansouri reiterated his determination to stop financing the State until reforms are carried out. “We will not print Lebanese pounds either. We will not issue treasury bills, and will definitely not provide the State with dollars,” he insisted.
