Caretaker Minister of Health Firas Abiad said on Wednesday that cases of COVID-19 had recently increased in Lebanon, pointing out that this usually happens every summer.

Following a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Abiad nevertheless assured that “the situation in hospitals is under control and few cases require intensive care.”

He reiterated his call for precaution, inviting patients with vulnerable health condition to be vaccinated to protect themselves.

He added, “We also advise people with symptoms to avoid contact with others, and all those with immunity problems to use a mask or other protective tools.”
