The Public Relations Division of the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces released a statistical report on Tuesday, August 8, on crimes committed during the first seven months of 2023. The report indicated a notable decrease in crime rates compared to the same period last year.

It noted that a total of 7,435 individuals were apprehended during this period.

The results published in the report came as follows:

The figures indicated that the crime rate in July decreased by 36% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The General Directorate reiterated that despite the challenging circumstances Lebanon is facing, its staff is fully prepared to carry out their security duties in ensuring the safety of Lebanese citizens, tourists and residents across the country. This endeavor requires collaboration and coordination with various military and security agencies.

The Directorate also called on the public “to demonstrate a sense of responsibility” by cooperating with the police and reporting crimes they witness to the emergency number 112, “as security is a shared responsibility.”
