Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati chaired a meeting dedicated to discussing telecom affairs in the presence of Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm, Caretaker Minister of Finance Youssef Khalil, Ogero Director Imad Kraidieh, and other officials.

After the meeting, Corm announced having “discussed increasing the Ogero tariffs,” adding that this increase will be on the table of the Council of Ministers in its session next Thursday.

He also highlighted another critical matter, saying: “We addressed the issue of securing funds for purchasing diesel, which amount to 9 million US dollars, which was not accounted for in the budget. We borrowed this amount since October 2022 and have been exploring the best way to repay it; we may have to request an advance for that purpose.”

Minister Corm revealed that the ministry “received initial approval for the request [it] submitted previously to obtain solar energy from China,” which they are following up on.
