Head of the National Council for Lifting Iran’s Occupation of Lebanon, former MP Fares Souhaid, tweeted Sunday that “Hezbollah represents an ideology, arms, influence, and calculated demographic change in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.”

“The Christian parties are endorsing a presidential candidate as if they exised in a vacuum with no national, regional, or international reach. Occupation is one thing, but upping the ante and street smarts are another,” he added.

“Lift the Iranian occupation off Lebanon.”

In a second tweet, Souhaid said that “Hezbollah is blatantly enforcing its dominance over Lebanon. No one can face them in the ballot boxes with a political alliance. The confrontation should consist of recycling internal unity around a Lebanese formula that is based on the Taif Accords and coexistence. Setting one sect against another is dangerous. A ballot box with a gun to the head is dangerous. Selling dreams while facing murder is dangerous.”

Souhaid concluded that “despite all of this, the Christian parties’ attempt is still brave.”
