Maronite Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Rai presided over the Pentecost Sunday Mass and in celebration of Tele Lumiere’s and NourSat’s 33rd anniversary in Bkirki.

Bishops Nabil Andari and Antoine Aoukar along with several clergy men aided Rai in the ceremony attended by several political and social dignitaries.

In his sermon, Rai noted that “in Lebanon today we suffer from the lack of moralities and increased corruption, mainly due to the ignorance in what the word of God says … and the absence of love. This is what we are witnessing among the political class. Love for them means nothing, instead they spread hatred and malice.”

“However, let us thank God for the semblance of agreement that we are sensing among the various political factions regarding the potential future presidential candidate, one that would not be considered confrontational to any side,” Rai added.

Rai concluded wishing that “a new president is elected the soonest in order to revitalize all the constitutional institutions and put an end to the ongoing chaos on all levels especially the random legislations that are taking advantage of the vacant presidential seat.”

Rai is set to travel to the Vatican to meet Vatican Prime Minister Pietro Parolin Monday May 29 and in the evening, he is set to fly to France where he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday at 4pm.
