In Lebanon, a growing electronic waste crisis looms as public authorities turn a blind eye. Annually, over 46,000 tons of diverse equipment, including computers, mobile phones, refrigerators, and other household appliances, end up in landfills or, even worse, in nature. A mere 1% of this waste is salvaged for recycling purposes. A small number of dedicated organizations, consisting of NGOs and authorized companies, are struggling to keep up with the ever-increasing volume of electronic waste. They tirelessly work to repair or treat these discarded items when possible, recovering rare materials for reuse or resale in the process.
