Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Bukhari visited the Renewal Bloc headquarters today and left an hour later without issuing a statement.
“Saudi Arabia seeks to establish rules in the region based on state sovereignty, which makes us more determined that Lebanon should not be out of time and on the sidelines of growth and stability,” MP Michel Moawad, leader of the Independence Movement, clarified after the meeting.
“We insist on closing the chapter of the downfall and starting to gain back our rights, and the key for that is the presidential elections,” Moawad added.
“Saudi Arabia considers that it is the Lebanese’s right to choose the president, therefore it bears the responsibility for this choice, and we insist not to make these elections a continuation of the policy of isolation,” the MP concluded.
