Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm announced on Thursday that “the Ministry will conduct inspections of Internet networks established in violation of the law in Achrafieh and Ras Beirut and will link them to the Ministry,” starting 1 October 2023.

In a statement issued by his press office, Corm urged the installers of these networks to “report to the General Directorate of Investments and Maintenance within the Ministry of Telecommunications to provide the required documents and comply with the laws established by the Ministry.”

He also called on citizens residing in the districts of Achrafieh and Ras Beirut who are subscribed to telecommunications services to “verify the legality of the services they are receiving by calling 1515 or the service centers of duly authorized private companies.”

This process, which aims to regularize telecommunications services, must be completed by 15 November 2023. According to the statement, “Citizens using unauthorized services must apply for a subscription with Ogero or other service providers duly authorized by the Ministry of Telecommunications to avoid any service interruption. Neither the Ministry nor OGERO can be held responsible for this.”
