Caretaker Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm reassured the Lebanese on Wednesday, September 6, regarding the problem of fuel oil supply to Ogero’s exchange centers, which provide telephone and internet services to the public. This comes as insufficient fuel oil, caused by the lack of funds, led to the shutdown of some centers.

“This problem will be resolved if the government approves the advance requested by the Ministry at its meeting on Thursday. In fact, this issue is on the agenda for the Council of Ministers’ meeting tomorrow,” Corm said.

In an interview with “Voice of All Lebanon” radio, he pointed out that Ogero’s new tariff came into force on September 1, but the collection on this basis will only start on September 15.

He also revealed that malfunctions occurred on Wednesday in the Qarnayil, Muokhtara, Baabdat and Wadi Khaled exchange centers.

Regarding the issue of unregulated Internet, Corm stated that the Ministry will give citizens and private companies time to cancel subscriptions before discontinuing them, particularly in areas where Internet services are available via Ogero.

The Minister also denied reports of the creation of a third telecommunications company for the army through Nokia, thanks to an American donation, pointing out that there was a third company initially authorized, but which has not been activated.
