Prominent French composer Eric Tanguy (born in 1958) has reached the pinnacle of the global music scene with his acclaimed musical work, having been twice crowned with the prestigious Victoires de la musique classique award in 2004 and 2008.  Having been trained by masters of their craft, such as Horatiu Radulescu (1942-2008), Ivo Malec (1925-2019), and Gérard Grisey (1946-1998), he has conquered international stages, receiving highly renowned distinctions and collaborating with major figures of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Mstislav Rostropovich (1927-2007), Ivry Gitlis (1922-2020), and Seiji Ozawa (born 1935). His extensive catalog of works, ranging from highly acclaimed concertos to grand symphonic pieces, bears witness to an exceptional sensitivity to music. Throughout a path marked by exemplarity, he has shaped the legend of a visionary composer whose lyrical and profound imprint resonates with undeniable brilliance.

Eric Tanguy’s music reveals a rich imagination and is carried by a masterful rhythmic and melodic structure that infuses it with evocative power. At times, the impressionistic colors dear to Claude Debussy (1862-1918) resonate, but it is especially in the sublimation of musical textures that his work reaches its heights. His orchestral works embrace a rich chromatic palette, deploying an infinite variety of colors, oscillating between plays of shadows and luminous bursts, drawing the audience into a timeless dance between dreams and reality. Although his music breaks away from tonal constraints, it firmly distances itself from serialism, offering a profusion of nuances and sonorities that faithfully translate his master’s creative imagination. It reveals itself as an intense, lyrical, and consonant work, where polarities, melismas, and obsessive motifs intertwine, rising on modal scales. Beyond the narrative framework, the power of his compositions lies in the art of timbres and sensations, which often finds its climax in subtle delicacy, modest opulence, and evocative musical architecture, giving birth to an eclectic whirlwind of sounds.
