Israeli military activity escalated across southern Lebanon on Sunday, with multiple airstrikes reported throughout the day as the Israeli army said it targeted Hezbollah positions and infrastructure south of the Litani River and beyond the so-called “Yellow Line.”
In a statement published on X, Israeli army Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents of the towns of Deir El-Zahrani, Jarjouh, and Sajd in the Jezzine district.
“Due to Hezbollah’s violation of the ceasefire agreement, the IDF is compelled to act forcefully against it. The army does not intend to harm civilians,” Adraee said, calling on residents to immediately evacuate their homes.
Shortly afterward, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the town of Deir El-Zahrani was hit by five Israeli airstrikes during the evening. According to the agency, one of the bombs reportedly failed to explode.
Throughout the day, NNA also reported repeated Israeli strikes and aerial activity across several areas in southern Lebanon, including attacks beyond the “Yellow Line,” the boundary zone frequently referenced in military operations along the border region.
Later, the Israeli army stated that it targeted more than 20 Hezbollah-linked sites in southern Lebanon over the course of the day.
According to the IDF, the strikes targeted weapons storage facilities, headquarters, launchers, and buildings used for military purposes from which Hezbollah combatants operated.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health announced updated casualty figures linked to the ongoing hostilities. In a statement, the ministry’s Emergency Operations Center said the cumulative toll of the conflict since March 2 has reached 2,846 killed and 8,693 wounded.
The escalation comes amid continuing cross-border tensions despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at containing the conflict.
