In Beirut, MPs from across political lines met to discuss declaring the capital a weapons-free city and restricting arms exclusively to state control.

MP Fouad Makhzoumi: Called for army deployment in Beirut and the southern suburbs and activating coordination mechanisms to keep the capital free of weapons.

MP Ghassan Hasbani: Said effective enforcement depends on political will and the use of existing legal and state security tools.

MP Nadim Gemayel: Said that many are afraid to support weapons control because of Hezbollah's threats.

MP Ibrahim Mneimneh: Highlighted a notable shift, saying the Amal Movement is backing the rejection of arms outside the state, despite not attending the conference.
