Israel has increased its pressure on Hezbollah’s economic infrastructure in Lebanon as it broadens its attacks in southern Lebanon and the Beirut area.

Following Hezbollah’s launching of its “Operation Khaybar 1” on Tuesday, launching over 60 missiles across Israel, the Israeli army has increased its focus on Hezbollah-linked sites in civilian areas that are part of its financing apparatus.

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it attacked fuel stations in southern Lebanon belonging to the “Al-Amanah” company controlled by Hezbollah. Five fuel stations were targeted in Israel’s operations.

Arabic spokesperson to the Israeli army Avichay Adraee stated that these sites are “considered an important economic infrastructure for [Hezbollah’s] benefit.”

Adraee also said in the statement that “Hezbollah uses the stations' accounts in the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association to finance its terrorist activities,” and that Hezbollah generates millions of dollars in profits from the fuel stations.

The announcement follows a series of overnight airstrikes in central Beirut in the Zuqaq al-Blat, Basta, and Bachoura areas of the city. The Bachoura strike targeted a building which the Israeli army stated was linked to Al-Qard Al-Hassan operations.

The Israeli army announced that these attacks are “aimed at striking Hezbollah's economic positioning in the heart of the civilian population.”

Israeli strikes also carried out targeted attacks against specific apartments in the Zuqaq al-Blat area on Wednesday.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated on Wednesday that Israel destroyed two bridges on the Litani River, citing that Hezbollah uses them to smuggle weapons and facilitate the organization’s movement

The Lebanese Health Ministry released an updated casualties toll on Wednesday, announcing that 968 people have been killed and 2,432 people have been injured since March 2.
