On Tuesday evening, the Israeli air force launched its ninth wave of strikes on Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed that Israel is continuing to “strike Iran with force” in a speech at an air force base. “Our pilots are over the skies of Iran and Tehran,” he added.
This set of attacks is being carried out at the same time as strikes in Lebanon on Hezbollah targets. Netanyahu said in his speech that the Israeli air force is also “over the skies of Lebanon. Hezbollah made a very big mistake when it attacked us. We have already responded forcefully, and we will respond with even greater force.”
On Iran, the Israeli army said in a statement that it is “targeting the Iranian terror regime's infrastructure in Tehran.”
Initial strikes targeted sites in Tehran’s east and southeast. Explosions have been reported in these areas, according to AFP.
Iranian media also said that joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeted a building in Qom linked to a body tasked with electing a new Supreme Leader. The building reportedly sustained significant damage from being hit.
Israeli also said that it hit a senior commander in Tehran.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that airstrikes targeted central Tehran in its attacks. This area houses many government buildings, and damage was reported on several houses in the area.
Iranian media also stated that joint strikes hit Tehran’s Mehrabad airport. Photos show smoke rising from the site.
Israeli strikes also focused on locations linked to the production of military materials. Israel said that it targeted facilities across Iran that produce ballistic missiles.
“The IDF targeted industrial sites used by the Iranian regime to produce weapons, particularly ballistic missiles,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
The Hesa airbase near Isfahan was also targeted in attacks.
An Iranian official warns that Iran will strike “all economic centers” in the Middle East if U.S. and Israeli strikes on the country persist.
