Israel struck a vehicle near Phoenicia University on the Zahrani–Tyre highway in southern Lebanon. Shortly after the attack, the Israeli army said it had targeted a Hezbollah member in the Saida district, north of the Litani River. The raids killed one person and injured eight others.

Later in the day, the Israeli army issued an urgent warning on Monday afternoon to residents of southern Lebanon, urging those in the towns of Kfar Tibbnine and Ain Qana to take precautionary measures ahead of anticipated airstrikes. Shortly afterward, Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on what were described as specific targets in the area.

The Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, wrote on the platform “X”: “The Israel Defense Forces recently carried out strikes against several Hezbollah weapons depots in southern Lebanon in order to prevent attempts to rebuild its military capabilities.”

He added, “One of the targeted infrastructures was located in the heart of a civilian area, which constitutes further proof of the irresponsible manner in which Hezbollah uses Lebanon’s residents as human shields and conducts its activities from within civilian facilities.”

He continued, “Prior to the strikes, numerous measures were taken to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including issuing advance warnings to the population.”

He concluded, “Hezbollah’s activity at these sites constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and the Israel Defense Forces will continue to act to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel.”

Earlier on Monday, an Israeli drone dropped three sound bombs over the border town of Aita al-Shaab, heightening tensions among residents. The escalation followed a predawn incident in which Israeli troops infiltrated Aita al-Shaab, in the Nabatieh district, where they reportedly rigged a house with explosives, demolished it, and then withdrew.

Meanwhile, in the Bekaa governorate, Israeli aircraft were observed flying over large swathes of southern Lebanon as well as the Baalbek region.
