Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Friday, reaffirming Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon and stressing the need for stability, sovereignty, and full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

In his remarks, Madbouly said the visit aimed to “convey Egypt’s full support to Lebanon, its presidency, government, and people during this critical stage” and to back all measures taken to ensure stability and assert the Lebanese army’s and state institutions’ control over the country.

Madbouly highlighted the activation of the Lebanese-Egyptian Higher Committee, which convened last month in Cairo for the first time in six years. “We are here to discuss cooperation in all key areas, especially energy, electricity, gas, industry, and transportation. Egypt, through its government and private sector, is ready to support Lebanon in projects that can advance the Lebanese people,” he said.

He reiterated that Egypt “fully stands with Lebanon in all steps taken and efforts made by President Aoun across various fields.”

For his part, President Aoun emphasized Lebanon’s reliance on Egypt’s central political role in the Arab region and its assistance during difficult times. He stressed that activating the Higher Joint Committee is “essential for mutual benefit” and expressed hope for successful efforts to consolidate stability in Lebanon and foster regional peace.

Earlier on Friday, following a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Madbouly praised Lebanon’s leadership and institutions for maintaining stability and preserving civil peace. He also commended the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) for extending authority across the country and highlighted the outcomes of Salam’s recent visit to Egypt, noting that “about 15 agreements were signed between Egypt and Lebanon across multiple sectors, reflecting a clear political will to deepen bilateral relations.”

He added “a strong state is the guarantee,” underscoring Egypt’s unwavering support and the need to prevent any escalation in the region. “We will spare no effort to keep Lebanon away from any escalation,” Madbouly said.

Later, Madbouly met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain al-Tineh but did not make any public statement.

According to the Egyptian Cabinet, Madbouly is also scheduled to address economic bodies during a working session at Beirut’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
