
The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday the arrest of one of the country’s most wanted criminals and the rescue of a minor of Syrian nationality.
On Tuesday, a patrol from the Army’s Intelligence Directorate raided the home of a Palestinian suspect identified as M.G. in the Burj al-Barajneh camp. The suspect, wanted for multiple offenses including firearm attacks on civilians, throwing hand grenades, forming a gang to steal motorcycles, armed robbery, instigating conflicts, extortion and drug trafficking, opened fire on the patrol during the operation. The soldiers returned fire, injuring the suspect, who was then transferred to a hospital for treatment.

In a separate operation, another patrol rescued a Syrian minor, identified as J.J., in the Jroud al-Khreibeh area of Baalbeck. The boy had been kidnapped by armed men from the Douris area of Baalbeck following a dispute between smugglers along the eastern Lebanese-Syrian border.
The Lebanese Army confirmed that investigations have begun under the supervision of the judiciary, and authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of the kidnappers.
