High-level diplomatic sources in New York confirmed to MTV Lebanon on Tuesday that Lebanon received a revised French draft proposal regarding the renewal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The draft is currently under review, with officials expected to discuss it and submit feedback within a tight timeframe ahead of the upcoming UNIFIL session, which has yet to be scheduled.

According to Nidaa al-Watan, the new French draft has been formally sent to the Lebanese government for examination and comments. Following this process, a date will be set for a Security Council vote on the renewal of the peacekeeping mission.

Notably, the draft is believed to reflect US demands, particularly limiting the renewal to one year and incorporating measures aimed at streamlining expenditures. Washington, sources say, remains firm on these conditions.
