During Sunday Mass at Saint George Cathedral in Beirut, Metropolitan Elias Audi, head of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Beirut, called on citizens to place their trust in the state.

In his homily, he urged people not to be “distracted by things that make us sink into the waves of perdition,” adding that “the nation’s boat will not sink” in the face of trials “if we believe that this country is ours, if we obey its Constitution, apply its laws, place our trust in our state and entrust it with our fate, asking it to take control of the situation with responsibility and firmness.”

In conclusion, he prayed that God would “inspire the leaders and the people of this country to place their trust in Him and act according to the light of His word.”
