Sources close to Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri told MTV on Tuesday that there is no objection to placing the issue of weapons on the agenda of the upcoming cabinet meeting, provided that the discussion remains within the framework of the constitutional oath and the ministerial policy statement, which all parties have endorsed.
However, the sources emphasized that the current priority is Thursday’s legislative session, describing it as “historic.”
According to the sources, the session is set to pass two critical reform laws: banking reform and judicial independence. These measures, they noted, are not only longstanding Lebanese demands but also part of US Ambassador Barrack’s reform paper, elements that go beyond the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons.
