Samir Geagea and Walid Joumblatt met for a candid discussion on Wednesday, united by a mutual commitment to Lebanon’s future.

The discussion opened with an assessment of developments in neighboring Syria.

Both leaders concurred that events in Damascus carry significant implications for Lebanon, and they affirmed that preserving the nation’s stability and cohesion must remain paramount.

Attention then turned to the protracted tensions with Israel. Geagea and Joumblatt called for the transition from tentative understandings to a durable peace, asserting that only a comprehensive ceasefire can provide Lebanese families with the security required for reconstruction and normal life.

In this context, they emphasized that the Lebanese Armed Forces alone should assume responsibility for all border control and checkpoints, thereby precluding the presence of unauthorized armed factions.
