Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Rajji received assurances on Tuesday that the European Union (EU) will continue its support for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), amid growing regional tensions and internal challenges.

The pledge came during a phone call between Minister Rajji and EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Partnership Dubravka Šuica. The two officials discussed recent military developments in the region and their implications for Lebanon, along with the Syrian refugee crisis.

Šuica also reviewed the Lebanese government’s ongoing efforts to implement economic and administrative reforms. These steps are seen as crucial ahead of the upcoming EU-Lebanon Partnership Council meeting, scheduled for later this year.
