Potential Mass Resignation of Tripoli's Municipal Council

Following reports of the mass resignation of 11 members of Tripoli’s newly elected municipal council, the group is reportedly debating the possibility of retracting its resignation.

Informed sources told This is Beirut that a meeting is currently being held at the office of North Lebanon’s Governor and that the council members may reconsider their decision to step down, depending on the outcome of the discussions.

North Lebanon’s Governor Ramzi Nohra was dismissed from his duties and placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Interior on May 14, 2025, in line with a decision taken during a cabinet meeting held at the presidential palace and chaired by President Joseph Aoun. He is suspected of corruption and misconduct.
